Kōyō soy bowl with brown spots
Kōyō means autumn leaves in Japanese and symbolizes the beauty of change – a sentiment beautifully expressed in this handmade small soy sauce dish with its warm white (beige) glaze and fine brown speckles.
The pattern is created by hand with a mussel shell – a traditional technique that the Japanese ceramist Mr. Takashi has further developed and made his own. The technique gives each piece a natural and random expression, and the brown speckles appear during firing as part of the lively process.
The Kōyō series is custom-made for Sakura Copenhagen, and we are proud to be the sole retailer in Denmark of Mr. Takashi's unique ceramics. The series can be advantageously mixed and matched across glazes and textures for a lively, personal expression.
