Kōyō soy bowl with brown spots
Kōyō means "autumn leaves" in Japanese and symbolizes the beauty of change - a thought beautifully expressed in this handmade small soy bowl with its warm white (beige) glaze and fine brown flecks.
The pattern is created by hand with a seashell – a traditional technique that Japanese ceramicist Mr. Takashi has further developed and made his own. The technique gives each piece a natural and random expression, and the brown nits occur during the firing as part of the living process.
The Kōyō series is specially made for Sakura Copenhagen, and we are proud to be the only dealer in Denmark of Mr. Takashi's unique ceramics. The series can be mixed and matched across glazes and structures for a vibrant, personal expression.
Please note: The ceramics are handmade and may therefore vary slightly in size.
