Kōyō plate with brown spots
Kōyō means autumn leaves in Japanese and symbolizes the beauty of change – a concept beautifully reflected in this handmade, deep plate with its warm white (beige) glaze and fine brown speckles. The rounded shape and vibrant surface give the plate an organic and sensual expression.
The pattern is created by hand with a seashell – a traditional technique that Japanese ceramist Mr. Takashi has made his own. The brown speckles appear naturally during firing and contribute to making each plate truly unique.
Mr. Takashi's design is inspired by the forms and materials of nature. He works with great care and presence, which is why both colors and shapes vary from piece to piece – everything is handmade and bears the mark of the living process.
The Kōyō series is custom-made for Sakura Copenhagen, and we are proud to be the only retailer in Denmark of Mr. Takashi's unique ceramics. The series can be mixed and matched across glazes and textures for a lively, personal expression.
Note! The plate is handmade and may therefore vary slightly in size.
