KURO - Signe Schmidt matcha cup/bowl in black and brown
Beautiful, hand-thrown matcha bowl by Danish ceramist Signe Schmidt. The bowl is designed to be ideal for whisking your matcha, but you can also use it for other hot drinks – or simply as a bowl.
The bowl stands on a small foot, which gives it an elegant appearance.
A matcha bowl, called a chawan in Japanese, is used to whisk matcha tea and to enjoy the tea directly from the bowl. The bowl is hand-thrown and hand-glazed.
Ceramist Signe Schmidt creates her designs based on the Japandi style, which draws on both Japanese and Scandinavian expressions and traditions. Signe hand-throws all her products in her own workshop.
Particularly noteworthy in Signe Schmidt's collection of cups and bowls is her sense of color and work with glazes.
NB: As the bowls are handmade and hand-glazed, there will be minor variations in color and glaze. This is completely normal and does not affect the quality, overall appearance, or use of the product – this is the charm of handmade ceramics.
