SHIZUKU is a new interpretation of the traditional round shape of the Japanese paper lantern. It is shaped into an equilateral octagon using only heat treatment – without the use of a wire frame.

Shizuku means “drop” in Japanese. The lantern originates from the city of Mito, known as one of Japan’s main areas for making paper lanterns. The surface is treated with a special process that makes it resistant to water and stains, and the construction is made with environmentally friendly materials, including a frame made of PET resin. Where bamboo or metal wire is usually used for the frame, this one is instead cast in PET resin to allow light to pass through the structure and create a light and organic silhouette.

The same series also includes the FUJI and TAMA pendants.
