Waste bin in black
Handmade wastebasket from BUNACO in compression-moulded Japanese beech with a simple and well-thought-out design that makes it a beautiful object to display in any room.
The wastebasket is made of beech wood, cut into paper-thin layers and shaped by hand using a special spiral technique that is completely unique to BUNACO. Instead of carving solid wood, the form is built up layer by layer - a process that requires time and precision and results in a light and strong construction. Each individual wastebasket is hand-shaped and completely unique. The finish of the wastebasket is perfectly smooth and soft.
The wastebasket is manufactured in Aomori, Japan - in the area with Japan's largest beech forest. The wood is processed with respect for the material and with minimal waste. They are made to highlight the natural structure and form of the wood.
The wastebasket was discovered on our trip to Japan in the Tohoku region, where we met with Sugiko, the founder of the brand.
BUNACO is a Japanese design and woodcraft company founded in 1963. Their unique 'spiral technique' was developed after extensive research into how they could most effectively and environmentally friendly use the many beech trees in the Aomori area, which were otherwise difficult to use due to moisture content and dimensional stability. BUNACO has received numerous awards, including the Good Design Awards.
We are proud to be the first to present BUNACO in Denmark.
