Large Koi fish red
Traditional, hand-painted koinobori on sturdy Japanese washi paper.
The koi fish is hand-painted at a small paper mill in Japan - one of the few places where they still make them. The koi fish are produced in limited numbers each year in connection with Children's Day on May 5th in Japan.
In Japanese culture, the koi fish symbolizes strength and perseverance. It is associated with the ability to swim against the current and the will to continue moving forward, even when faced with resistance.
Koinobori are traditionally hung outdoors, where the wind fills the fish and brings it to life. They are put up as a wish for children to grow up healthy, strong, and brave.
A light and lively decoration with roots in Japanese tradition and a quiet reminder of inner strength.
