TAMA Pendant

Sale price4.995,00 kr

TAMA is a reinterpretation of the traditional, round shape of the Japanese paper lantern designed by Tosshiyuki Tani. It is shaped like an equilateral octagon solely by means of heat treatment – entirely without the use of a wire frame.

Tama means jewel in Japanese. The lantern originates from the city of Mito, known as one of Japan's most important areas for manufacturing paper lanterns. The surface is treated with a special process that makes it resistant to water and stains, and the construction is made with environmentally friendly materials, including a PET resin frame. Where bamboo or metal wire is usually used for the frame, this one is instead molded in PET resin to allow light to pass through the structure and create a light and harmonious silhouette.

The same series also includes the FUJI and SHIZUKU pendants.
