TAMA Pendant
TAMA is a new interpretation of the traditional round shape of the Japanese paper lantern. It is shaped into an equilateral octagon using only heat treatment - without the use of a wire frame.
Tama means “jewel” in Japanese. The lantern originates from the city of Mito, known as one of Japan’s most important paper lantern-making areas. The surface is treated with a special process that makes it resistant to water and stains, and the construction is made with environmentally friendly materials, including a frame made of PET resin. Where bamboo or metal wire is usually used for the frame, this one is instead cast in PET resin to allow light to pass through the structure and create a light and harmonious silhouette.
The same series also includes the FUJI and SHIZUKU pendants.
