001 Dining Chair Black by Fredrik Paulsen is simple, immediate and robust. But despite its heaviness, it is designed with comfort in mind and is ideal for long, relaxed dinners.
Paulsen's work is characterized by a rawness and he has a love for pine wood, which he describes as "psychedelic" because of its vibrant grain patterns.
According to Paulsen, the material works best on large surfaces.
The chair is treated with a deep, black stain, which is unique to Vaarnii. The treatment allows the characteristic beautiful grain of the pine to remain visible. The chair is made in Finland from Finnish pine .
Characteristic of the wood - Pine becomes more beautiful with age. The colors mature and take on a deeper glow. Heartwood and sapwood age at different rates, highlighting the natural grain patterns of the wood. After a few years, the pine in each chair will develop a rich and complex honey-colored tone.
Pine is a soft wood and will eventually develop marks and impressions. But don't see them as flaws - embrace them. They are signs of life and of furniture that has been used and loved. Pine is not life-resistant. It is proof of life.
