Paulsen's work is characterized by a rawness and a love for pine, which he describes as "psychedelic" due to its vibrant grain patterns. According to Paulsen, the material is best showcased on large surfaces.
The table is manufactured in Finland from Finnish pine.
A characteristic of pine is that it becomes more beautiful with age. The colors mature and develop a deeper glow. Heartwood and sapwood age at different rates, highlighting the wood's natural grain patterns. After a few years, the pine in each chair will develop a rich and complex honey-colored tone.
Pine is a soft wood and will develop marks and indentations over time. But do not see them as flaws – embrace them. They are signs of life and of furniture that has been used and loved. Pine is not imperishable. It is proof of life.
