Vaarnii - 1003 Hans Pendant 60
The warm glow filtered through pine veneer, combined with a simple and graphic form, is at the core of Hans-Agne Jakobsson's iconic designs.
When Vaarnii started working with pine in lighting, it became clear that Jakobsson's pendants from the 1960s still represent an unparalleled reference point. Pine is used with great precision, where tone and grain are allowed to stand out clearly in an expression that appears solid and material – yet light in its appearance.
The Hans series is manufactured in Finland with an internal structure of solid pine and an exterior of fine pine veneer. Each lamp is handmade from natural materials, resulting in minor variations in symmetry and surface, making each product unique.
Pine is a living material that changes character over time due to natural oils and resin. Vaarnii uses both heartwood and sapwood, which mature differently and create a temporary, striped surface that gradually develops.
Over time, the product acquires a more uniform, warm honey-colored tone as part of a natural and beautiful aging process.
