Hiroshige - One hundred famous views of Edo
Taschen's "Hiroshige. One Hundred Famous Views of Edo" collects Utagawa Hiroshige's masterpiece. In his own style, he painted Edo over the years in various situations and landscapes.
The paintings provide a unique insight into 19th century Japan, executed in the now extinct ukiyo-e tradition. Today Edo is called Tokyo and already 200 years ago it was a city full of life. Hiroshige is best known for his landscapes, the best known of which are found in "Hiroshige. One Hundred Famous Views of Edo". Taschen has included commentary for each image showing the influence the paintings have had on Western art.
