Sashiko workshop with Ida Kleist for beginners

Learn Japanese Sashiko embroidery with Ida Kleist

At this workshop, you will be introduced to the Japanese embroidery technique 'sashiko' with Ida Kleist as your instructor.

Sashiko means small stitches, and there are two directions within sashiko; in this workshop, you will learn to embroider the technique called hitomezashi, which is sewn according to a grid drawn on the fabric. We will sew a coaster that can, for example, be used under cups, jugs, or glasses.

At the workshop, we will discuss material choices, the history of sashiko embroidery, and its uses. Ida is well-known for her beautiful tea cozies and jackets, among other things.

The workshop will be held in our new premises at Gammel Kongevej 91C and will last from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM.

After the workshop, you will receive a unique discount code for Sakura and Ida Kleist studio, which can subsequently be used in the store and online.

Location: Sakura Social, Gammel Kongevej 91C, 1850 Frederiksberg.

Duration: Approximately 2 hours

The workshop includes:

• Material for a coaster, which you can take home
• Teaching and demonstration of the sashiko technique hitomezashi
• Tea and snacks in the cozy and aesthetic surroundings of Sakura Social
