Vaarnii - 001 Stool

Fredrik Paulsen's 001 Stool is a simple, robust, and immediate wooden stool. As part of the 001 series, Paulsen has created an archetypal and comfortable design language where function and materiality go hand in hand. Although the stool is the smallest element in the series, it possesses the same powerful presence as the other furniture pieces.

The generous dimensions of the solid wood are fully utilized, creating a sturdy and reliable piece of furniture that is also light enough to be easily moved – a clear expression of functional everyday design.

The 001 Stool is manufactured in Finland from Finnish pine and is a small but distinctive wooden stool.

Pine is a living type of wood that becomes more beautiful over time. The colours mature and gain a deeper glow, while heartwood and sapwood age at different rates, highlighting the wood's natural grain. Over time, each stool develops a rich, honey-coloured tone.

As a soft natural material, pine will acquire marks and traces with use. These should not be seen as flaws but as signs of life – a piece of furniture that is used and loved. Pine is not unchangeable but a material that tells its own story through use.
